Groundbreaking ceremony
The groundbreaking ceremony for the IWCD facility was held on November 4, 2025 in Tokai Village, Ibaraki Prefecture.
At the ceremony, KEK Director General Shoji Asai expressed his gratitude to local residents for their cooperation, including support from landowners at the construction site and assistance with various procedures. He then joined Tokai Village Mayor Osamu Yamada and others in a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony to pray for the safety of the construction work.
