SOKENDAI IPNS
Neutrino group

QWhy did you choose SOKENDAI?

ASince I was an undergraduate student, I have wanted to enter a Ph.D. program. SOKENDAI offers an integrated 5-year doctoral program, which allows students to plan their research from the first year of enrollment until the end of their Ph.D. studies. In addition, I chose SOKENDAI because I thought it would be a good environment where I could always feel the leading research by placing myself in KEK.

QCan you give a brief explanation of your research in the neutrino group?

AThe main experiment I belong to is T2K. Within T2K, I belong to the neutrino beam group. To improve the precision of neutrino oscillation analysis, it is important to improve the precision of the neutrino flux estimation, and we are conducting research using mock-up experiments, neutrino beam simulations, and the NA61 experiment.

QWhat’s your experience of being part of the neutrino group?(Campus life/daily life)

AI lead an exciting life with new learning every day. Unlike most graduate schools, the people around me are more researchers than students, and I feel that I am basically treated as one researcher. In the two years I have been here so far, I have been able to participate in experiments and workshops abroad, and have had discussions with various researchers in not only Japan, but also abroad.
